We will begin our tour from Volos. You will visit the archaeological sites of Sesklo and Dimini which are two of the oldest Neolithic villages ever found in Europe. A visit to the archeological museum of Volos is also necessary as it is also important to go around the city, hike in Goritsa hill and enjoy the view. After a long day going swimming seems like a great idea. Lunch and dinner can be in places where food is outstanding. After all, we live in Volos!
Pelion Mountain is known all over Greece for combining the natural beauty of a forest with wonderful beaches to swim in. In addition to that, some of the most traditional and authentic greek villages can be found here. This day involves hiking, swimming, and sightseeing. We will see the great platanos tree of Tsagkarada, the infamous Pelion train.
The 3rd day is dedicated to Greece's 2nd most visited site of interest. Meteora is a place one has to visit once in a lifetime. You will visit at least two monasteries and make pictures of all of them. Food can be quiet an experience in this part of Greece as well. If we extend our tour we can also visit Metsovo as well.
We will first stop at The Vale of Tempi. A gorgeous place where we can see nature at its best. Next will visit the archaeological site of Dion, the most complete archaeological site of Olympos. If time allows we will go swimming and the rest in Litochoro village and depending on time and strength maybe hike a little at Enipeas Gorge
We can start the day going swimming. Later we will visit Vergina. The tomb of Philip the 2nd (Alexander the Great's father). An award-winning archaeological site. We can close the day visiting Edessa's waterfalls and enjoy outstanding food.
We will visit the National Park of Kerkini Lake, where we might see pelicans, buffaloes and enjoy uniquely cooked lake fish. Next a visit to Roupel fort that played an important role for Greece and greeks morale during WWII We will stey overnight in Serres which are famous all over the country about "bougatsa" and "souvlaki"
We will visit Alistrati Cave. One of the most impressive caves you can find in the country and in Europe in general. Later on we will visit Amfipoli a soon-to-be UNESCO's monument of world heritage. Impressive , important , unique
After a nice long day, it is time to get to our final destination. The tour can be extended by a day if you decide to stay one more night at Meteora. You can also choose to visit the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, since most of the findings from Dion and Vergina are exhibited there.
